EJA

EJA

Sonnet I

When to the veiled moon’s obscure shadow
Do I meet thy embrace in fond ‘membrance?
Bathed in light resplendent from long ago
I beseech thee, thy hand in mine to dance
Inconstant moon, I ponder thy repose
Vault of brightness, or dark impending doom
Nocturnal purpose that God only knows
Weaving rays of divine light on thy loom
Illuminate this beauteous delight
Mine arms to caress thee oh dearest love
Ah, save me from the loneliness of night
Precious orb eclipse this fear from above
Refute this shroud of misbegotten woe
Turn night to day and day to morning glow.
