Slumber softly sweet liege in my verse
A prince lost in reverie’s cloudy dream
Where stars reach beyond the vast universe
For wishing rays sparkle like moonbeam
Inside the life of thy innocent breath
Tis thine pureness unsullied and tender
That begs me liberate all thought of death
And charms mine being and ne’er surrender
Like dawn’s new light eases into the day
Eternal pleasure thou thyself doth sew
Sleep silent dove, be thee safe do I pray
To see thee tall as great tree doth grow
So off to your dream gentle spirit go
Oh! that joy from joy thee forever know.
