EJA

EJA

Sonnet XLIX

If there be anything I would thee ask,

That thou see’st me as thy only true love.

To feel thine hand in mine through every task,

Hearts melding into one, blessed from above;

For birds sing and we in their presence bask.

Ne’er before hath such a wonder been seen;

Where one half finds the other wholly

Harnessing heart sounds and that in between,

For such longing to be with thee solely.

This pining tis but the fancy of youth,

Showing innocence of soul and spirit

Fully loved till we are long in the tooth;

O, how I adore thee and ne’er fear it

Courage doth endure the ultimate truth,

For fortune’s sake it runs forever smooth.
