EJA

EJA

Sonnet LIV

O, how shall heav’ns dearest rose save the world

Against the debris and ruble of life

As thine own heart’s sound banner tis unfurled

And all truth doth release me of mine strife.

O, to be discord free! where, hence thou rise

Shall rapture’s regal crown from rapture hide?

For what stout soul can heal this world that dies?

And who in pure beauty death defied?

Death’s doors, though hardwearing, cannot hold thee,

For the miracle of thee tis divine;

And oceans of love do flow ceaselessly,

Where life eternal meets aqua skyline,

And stars and planets in chorus combine

Singing thy name in glorious sunshine.
