What is a dove that sorrow’s heart doth sing
Want nothing of the eye of hearts so bear;
All souls, the depths of humanity, bring,
Bearing truth from beyond, that lingers there.
Thy gentle gaze thus eternity praise;
For thine lament Psyche’s portend impart
No other envoy could temptation raise,
Stirring immortality’s probing heart.
They peer into the portals of thine tears,
And do, in sleek restraint, defend this life;
For, the Gods, their thoughts, do release our fears,
And resolve of this, all that stand thee rife
Thy olive branch doth appease noble strife,
To thy fair dove, praise thee, crowned afterlife.
