Sonnet LXV

Why is mine heart so lonely with despair,

Lost beyond all stars of the universe?

Why reach for the moon if banishment bear,

Only to see thee here expressed in verse?

Why know I still thou hath returned to me,

To preserve mine heart in thine guard always,

That every living dream tis met by thee,

In villages and gardens down yon ways?

Pray, tell, dear soul, I see thee oft in flight,
Where grace returns in virtuous form;

So all fears of old, art changed in new light,
Turning the heart cold to pleasantly warm:

For as this life tis hourly dull and bright,

I plan for eternity day and night.
