EJA

EJA

Sonnet LXXXII

So shall I better grasp thine thought and deed,

For held by thine ruse, mine heart filled with doubt,

And at risk, devise a plan to be freed,

That freedom ring forth, day in and day out.

Slave to summer rain sliding and flailing,

Where other bears thine tender embrace near,

Tears falling upon darkness prevailing,

Thou peering through thine window full of fear.

In an instant, I am mine own clear mind;

No grievance do I possess unto thee,

For when I look back upon me remind,

I lease thee to ethos so it may be.

How like to change within mine own eye see,

And forget all thought of this travesty.
