EJA

EJA

Sonnet C

What is a clan if not alike in name?

When identity doth uncover more.

Who is a child’s father if not the same?

For time estranged hath changed this family’s lore.

Odd, yet startling, forbearer’s word arrived,

Saying that another’s blood ‘twas mine own,

And in such a moment it felt contrived,

Still I was made anew in blood and bone.

For love of family doth the spirit plea,

That father’s smile and a mother’s laughter,

Join thine lineage in love eternally,

In life and in death forever after.

And when souls transform in heaven above,

I’ll be with mine adored, embraced by love.
