EJA

EJA

Sonnet CLXIX

Be wary they say, as heart thieves do lurk,
Each pulsating function within my breast,
Deception reveals the brute’s handiwork
Leaping forth winded, with impassioned zest.

But thou, in name of valor rally on,
Comforting, now mine heart’s languishing grief,
Thou, born of slightness, issued with brawn,
Left me to ponder all boorish belief.

Thou provoking a conjured hellish ghost,
Wandering nomad under distant spell,
Suffer mine heart that doth humbly boast,
From whence thou keenly sparkled, pray thee tell
And though thine heart be stol’n, say not farewell,
For songbirds lull thievish hearts, and all is well.
