EJA

Sonnet CLXXV

Beside my heart shall thee always be true,
Where twinkling fairies rave in gold array,
For eyes speak when joyful magic smiles through,
And princely gaze furls banners o’er the fray.

That soft verse lilting tames the lusty beast,
And all ill doth fade amid the shadow,
As seraph’s herald forth a divine feast,
Healing the lonely cherished earth below.

Rouse fortitude’s daring immortal grit,
Amid the hopeless whiff and wafting drought,
That fury’s strain shall ne’er the god’s outwit.
My heart’s devotion wanes when lovers pout:
So devotion in life’s delight bring out,
And stay with me, with all mine heart devout.
