EJA

Sonnet CXXXVII

Rare empathy mine heart and soul cherish;
Explore the recesses of mine being;
Sing of sacred song that ne’er shall perish;
The cup of living all hope decreeing.
Why so bold a risk that kindness tis spent;
For to the light thou once gazed in glory,
As heartbeats fade and bold shadows relent,
And life emerges from strife’s own story.
Within mine soul, such diamonds rain down,
And let that bent to conspire nurture thee,
For divine hours seal thine fate and thy crown,
Making primal terms that fail to set free.
So shalt the noble rise and paint the town,
And death as in life, t’will be thy renown.
