EJA

EJA

Sonnet CLIX

The sting! over in an instant love ends,
A shattered soul destroyed, bids thee farewell.
Weep, if thou wilt; for time sorrow defends,
Where spiraling lust bursts this youthful shell.

For minds possess’d with murderous ego,
Slash ‘gainst childish innocence conspiring,
Reveal suspect’s rooted deceit ergo,

Caged in disenchantment’s wake desiring.

O, silent thought that ravages the mind!
How shalt romance ended find recompense?
Embers scald where morning glow once shined,
And to itself seeks kind-hearted defense.
In a dwelling where pride makes no sense,
A life once loved may still forgive thee hence.
