EJA

EJA

Sonnet CLXXXI

Mountain and Sun once Nature’s eye beaming
Truth thou art, the infinite of design;
As mother’s breast, with gentle heart gleaming,
With seminal courage, this world define.

Thy rays brighter than Saturn’s rings reeling,
Where man tis nourished in thy bosom sweet

That all form whereupon such light peeling;
Satisfies the heart, all ardor replete.

A king’s ransom bears up this maiden’s worth
Till time, once wrought with distress, tis consumed,
And by persistent charge with joy give birth,
Thy noble purpose o’ercome that was doomed.

Mine heart’s delight a woman’s pleasure groomed,
Where in glory’s light endless flowers bloomed.
