EJA

Sonnet CXCIII

My lovers’ tears are falling like the rain;
Silently streaming beads filled with dissent
And anger red, the trails of sorrow’s strain;
If eyes be seas, black waves rear discontent.

Like coral Sun bargains with pale darkness
Thy tarnished cheek doth caress my warm hand;
As thy perfumed neck pervades the starkness
One chance mine breath dare not misunderstand.

Thine utterance tis music, yet not for me
For vapors of dejection destroy sound;
And our purest dreams ne’er did set us free;
Mine fault, I admit, shifting all that frowned:
And thee, I forgive, with faith’s love surround
Accepting our flaws let mercy abound.
