Color is used to navigate our world and it plays a vitally important role in the world in which we live. Color can influence our thoughts and emotions, change how we act and react. It can aggravate or calm the senses, elevate blood pressure or conquer various appetites. Color is also a powerful form of communication, it is indispensable. Color also makes for a lot of fun in life!
Whenever I am sad, tired, afraid, or lazy, I remind myself that though I may be small in the eyes of God, I am a human being and it is my birthright to live, love, and be happy. Even when the world seems to make me crazy, I take inventory, and connect to other human beings. Sometimes I may not feel like I am the easiest to love, so I go inside myself and sort these emotions out. In the end, I let the colors in my life propel me out of melancholy, weariness, anxiety, or procrastination.
My aim is to be true to myself, who I am, and how I want to live my life. I love the color blue, so calling sadness “the blues” never works for me. Yet, there is a teaching in that paradox; the endless sky is blue and deep sadness is often referred to as being blue, so it is our choice. Rainbows, in particular, have a special place for me because they appear out of nowhere and when I see a double rainbow I am over the moon, (pun intended). Meditating on the various colors of the rainbow help to cleanse my senses too.
“True colors shining through” means so much to me because I can share who I am in an honest and colorful way. Fear becomes much less important and what others think of me also. I suppose true colors are an amazing combatant to fear and loneliness. Add deep breathing as part of your meditation and that is a recipe for healthy freedom from stress and day to day burnout. Always remember that when I see your true colors shining through, that is why I love you, so don’t be afraid to show your true colors. They’re beautiful like a rainbow.
