EJA

Sonnet LXII

That time of youth thou mayst in jest ponder

When carefree days on sand and surf do play

Upon those airy shores mine childhood wonder,

Fair wisdom danced, where life bore lessons gay.

That day tis mine that thou see’st Sun setting

For youth’s shadow fadeth in due time,

Such wagers of the night were thy debting,
Beauty’s prank played upon thy youthful prime.

Mine heart reflects the fond fervor of life;

Yet the ruins of youth art what remains

As that in death so forgets all past strife;

And what thou perceives well, another pains.

Thus, youth doth perish, the future sustains

A love life lived and to dance when it rains.
