Sonnet CXXVIII

When such refinement thinks me of love’s might

Tis as black silken ravens touch the dawn

To believe in that which joy calls to light

And summon glory as they gently fawn.

Thus, speaking in simple truths that bind us

Although such love tis of mystery made

Giving credence to music glowing thus

That light from light in darkness t’will ne’er fade

For no man lends such pearls of wisdom bright

Nor can thy strength offend that which forgives

That all my grief tis the ransom of night

And love sheds the many where my heart lives

Ah! bravery tis but light a candle gives

Where storms rage onward and beauty outlives
